We “get by with a lot of help from our friends..."
Once you have been to an open day or workshop at Chyan you may start to feel that you have a connection to the place and the values that the retreat centre hopes to embody in the world. You may find yourself wanting to contribute something more yourself.
Ways to help
-
In the kitchen
We’d love your help with one of the most rewarding parts of our retreats and events — the cooking! We’ll handle the menu planning, provide recipes for the right number of guests, and make sure all the ingredients are ready for you. Your role is simply to bring it all to life in the kitchen. Unless you’re a very confident cook, we find it’s even better with two people — and it’s a wonderful way to share the experience (and a few laughs) with a friend.
-
On the land
You might have other skills that could be a real gift to our community — from plumbing to computer support, and everything in between. Whatever your talents, we’re always grateful for an extra helping hand, and we’re always interested in hearing any other ways you think you could help.
-
At events
Chyan hosts many events throughout the year — from Apple Day to Circus Camp — and we’re always looking for volunteers to help in a variety of roles, from car parking and running the cafe to general cleaning and site upkeep. In return, volunteers enjoy free access to the events.

Donate
Another wonderful way to support Chyan and all that happens here is by making a one-off donation or setting up a standing order to Chyan Community Field, our registered charity. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps keep our activities thriving. You’ll also find a traditional Buddhist monk’s alms bowl in the Sky Barn — a gentle reminder that any donation placed there is received with deep gratitude.
