IxCacao
Pure Peruvian Criollo Cacao, crafted in here at Chyan in Cornwall
About IxCacao
At IxCacao we share wild crafted raw Criollo cacao from the Junín region of Peru, prepared with care, respect and deep connection to the living origins of cacao itself.
Known as the “King of Cacao,” Criollo beans account for only a tiny fraction of the world’s cacao harvest, making them one of the rarest and most prized varieties on Earth. Celebrated for their delicate aromatic profile, rich natural fats and complex flavour, Criollo cacao has long been considered a true delicacy.
Our cacao is always 100% pure and raw. Nothing added, nothing taken away. No fillers, preservatives or unnecessary processing.
Just cacao in its most natural form. Because it is never roasted or alkalised through the Dutch process, it retains far more of its natural nutrients, antioxidants and character.
We offer cacao in many forms including whole beans, nibs, powder, butter and paste.
Our cacao paste begins with carefully prepared cacao nibs, stone ground into a rich liquid as the natural cacao butter gently melts through the process. The result is a beautifully smooth and full bodied cacao containing both cacao solids and cacao butter in their natural balance.
Our cacao is grown in the Peruvian Amazon by a cooperative of small organic farms who work in relationship with the land rather than against it. Peru is often regarded as one of the ancient homes of cacao, where the plant has been respected and shared for generations long before it reached the wider world. Nearly all Peruvian cacao is grown by smallholder families who rely upon cacao as part of their year round livelihood and connection to the forest.
The cacao is cultivated through agroforestry practices, grown amongst trees and diverse plant life in a way that supports biodiversity, soil health and ecological balance. This method offers a far gentler alternative to large scale plantation farming and helps protect against the cycles of deforestation seen elsewhere in the world.
IxCacao is shared from Chyan in Cornwall, a place of community, creativity, nature and connection. Whether gathered around a fire, poured before a Human🎧Rhythms dance, shared quietly in the woods or offered across a market table, the intention remains the same: to slow down, reconnect and remember the simple beauty of sharing something real together.
Alongside sharing cacao, IxCacao also helps support the Bani Hayoune Garden project near Tagounite on the edge of the Sahara in Morocco. The project, held by Said and Linde, is helping restore an old family homestead and support local people through regenerative land work, water projects and community support in an increasingly harsh climate landscape.
A portion of IxCacao sales and shared cups helps raise funds for the ongoing regreening work in the oasis, supporting women, children and future sustainability within the region. What begins as cacao in the forests of Peru continues its journey outward, helping nourish community and restoration across another part of the Earth entirely.
This is not just cacao.
It is earth, rain, story, soil, hands, memory and movement carried across continents into cup and conversation.
